Acrylic painting with a palette knife, with Heather Burton

New to Field Breaks Art, artist Heather Burton will take us on an exciting tour of colour, shape and textures, using palette knives and acrylic paints.  We will use this fun technique to bring drama and expression to our work.  Try out Heather's own knives or experiment with those you may already own.

The day will start with a short demonstration to show basic palette knife techniques, after which everyone will start work on a painting inspired by a photograph or picture that you choose.  This can be anything from landscape/seascape to portrait/figure/animal.  Heather will offer individual support and guidance, to help everyone achieve a more confident, loose approach to their work based on the layering of acrylic paints using a variety of knives.  Suitable for everyone, from absolute beginners to more experienced artists, who would like to try a new technique and approach to painting.

Please bring an image that you would like to paint, or choose from those that will be available on the day.

Refreshments provided and with everyone bringing a packed lunch and an apron.  This is a non-residential workshop.

A short materials list will be forwarded before the start of the workshop.  Typically this will include a selection of acrylic paints, suitable brushes, a palette knife if you have one already, and something suitable to paint onto, i.e. a canvas or board.

If you have no materials of your own, some will be available to borrow during the workshop, i.e. knives,  paints and brushes.  Suitable canvases can be purchased on the day at cost.

The workshop fee is £79 and is payable to confirm a place.  Please see How to PayTerms and Conditions apply.
