Learn the art of using the lucid medium of charcoal to create etherial and realistic portraits. Join us for a day of creativity and experimentation, using the human face as our subject. Well known for his stunning charcoal potraiture, Sky Arts Portrait Artist Neil will demonstrate his technique and show us how surprisingly easy the process can be by exploiting the natural qualities of charcoal, with everything from subtle shading to strong contrasts.
After an introductory demonstration into his techniques and approach, Neil will help us with our individual studies, offering help and tips along the way. Suitable for all abilities.
Saturday 25th July 2026 from 10 am – 3.00 pm. Refreshments provided and with everyone bringing a packed lunch. Parking is on site. This is a non-residential workshop.
Most materials will be available to borrow on the day, a short materials list will be forwarded before the workshop.
