Janet loves clean colour and pattern and uses these to create vibrant paintings on a range of subject matter. Janet will explain her influences and inspiration and lead the group through her processes to create a vibrant still life.
Aims of the day
Observing a still life you will record a composition that leads the viewer through a large-scale painting. Janet will focus on of colour mixing, layering and planning a successful composition to create a vibrant outcome using acrylics.
Resources and materials to bring:
Janet uses Aquarelle Hot Pressed watercolour paper 76 x 56 cm (300gsm) but if you wish you can use canvas, board or a smooth watercolour paper, preferably no smaller than A2
Range of sizes of watercolour and acrylic brushes. Janet has a range of brushes but if you have your own, please bring them with you.
Two water pots and range of acrylic paints primary colours, and titanium white. Janet uses System 3 and Galeria but if you don’t have these specific brands please just bring what you have.
Plate, palette or tear off palettes for acrylics
Suitable size board if using paper, and an easel - but if you don’t have these don't worry as you will be able to work on a table.
Apron (not essential)
Suitable for those who have tried acrylics before, or for complete beginners.
Monday 2nd October at 10 am – 3.30 pm. Refreshments are provided, with everyone bringing a packed lunch. Parking is on site. This is a non-residential workshop.
