Taking the fear out of figure drawing with Sue Blake

Sorry - sold out!  We sometimes do have a cancellation so please do let us know if you would like to join our waiting list, thank you

Sue has recently been re-visiting her figure drawing skills in her own work and is looking forward to sharing some of the tips and techniques involved.

With a loose theme of “shoppers”, the workshop will explore simple and exciting ways of drawing people in motion and carrying bags.

The aim is to become more confident about including figures in future work. It is not a portrait class; the focus will be very much on understanding some general aspects of recording the human form such as proportion, gesture and pose.

Using photos as a guide [definitely NOT just copying them] we will experiment with a few techniques before creating a final composition, to be worked on in either monochrome or colour. Images will be supplied.

Tutor: Sue Lewis-Blake

Materials list:

Please bring some good quality paper, preferably A3 size or larger and your favourite pens, pencils and/or crayons. A rubber and pencil sharpener would be useful and don’t forget a brush if your pencils are water soluble.
N.B. The paper does not have to be white or cream - you may wish to experiment with working on coloured, patterned or even squared paper if you have any.
A range of materials and equipment will also be available to borrow/share on the day, but you might find your own scissors and a glue stick useful for a couple of the warm-up exercises.

Welcoming beginners, this workshop is suitable for all abilities.

Friday 17th November 2023 from 10 am – 3.30 pm.  Refreshments provided and with everyone bringing a packed lunch.  Parking is on site.

This is a non-residential workshop.

The workshop fee of £79 is payable to confirm a place.  Please see How to PayTerms and Conditions apply.
